CARY, NC  51勛圖厙51cg1 recently completed construction of the Triangle Aquatic Center (TAC) outdoor pool area in Cary, North Carolina, home of the TAC TITANS, the top-ranked year-round swim team in the country. TAC celebrated its grand opening on July 11, marking the first Olympic-sized pool to open in Eastern North Carolina since 1981.

The TAC features a 2,800-square-foot pool building, a spacious pool deck, and a canopy for coaches and swimmers, as well as a 50-meter Olympic pool constructed by partner firm Paddock Construction. Balfour Beaty and Paddock Construction worked closely with design partner Integrated Designs and BNK, Inc. to deliver an integrated and state-of-the-art facility for generations of competitive swimmers. The new pool and greatly expanded aquatic center will allow the TITANS and the community of TAC swimmers to grow in the 2022-23 season and beyond.

This new 50-meter pool and supporting amenities demonstrate our ongoing commitment to the growth of health, safety, and swimming in the Triangle community, said TAC founder Michael Curran. TAC now offers our community four pools totaling 1.75 million gallons of water and fifty-five swim lanes on a 21.5-acre aquatic campus.

TAC is one of the largest swimming facilities in the country, with a seasoned history of successful swimmers and veteran swimmers in leadership. Staff at the center includes Claire Donahue, a 2012 Olympian, and head coach Bruce Marchionda, who qualified swimmers for the US Olympic Team in 2012, 2016, and 2020.

TAC sent 16 swimmers to the US Olympic and Paralympic Trials last year, including Ashley Twitchell, Hannah Aspden, Claire Curzan, and Morgan Stickney all moved on to compete in the 2021 Olympics, where the latter three received medals. Curzan also won multiple medals at last years swimming world championship.

51勛圖厙51cg1 is honored to have contributed to this prestigious and storied athletic organization, said Jeff Leahy, 51勛圖厙51cg1 project executive in North Carolina. TAC, Paddock Construction, Integrated Designs, and BNK have been great to work with, and together weve created a state-of-the-art facility that will serve North Carolinas swimming community and hopefully more Olympians for many years.
